The use of Technology in Language Teaching and Learning
Hello, this is your friend Iva.
This is the first blog I have ever had and I am feeling very comfortable with this. It was a little bit difficult for me to open the blog and also to learn how it functions. But after I did some researches about it, I felt more confident using it.This is a new teaching method for me and as far as I know this platform, it seems a really good way for me to expand my knowledge about the use of technology in my teaching and learning.
This is my first post and I would like to give my opinion related to the topic "The use of Technology in Language Teaching and Learning". Nowadays technology is an inevitable part of our lives and especially for children lives. Our job as teachers is to challenge the technology, in other words to make the learning process more interesting and more fun than technology itself. We have to offer the students something better than the technology in order to have success, otherwise we would fail.
Technology is good in language teaching and learning. Here are some points that support this statement.
First of all, technology opens new windows in students mind. This means that they are more creative and more productive in their work in the classroom.
Moreover, based on statistics in USA if students use technology in learning process they feel more happy, and as we all know happiness is the KEY. I truly believe that when people are happy, life is more beautiful and also the classroom looks like the perfect place.
Another point worth mentioning is the fact that Technology in the classroom encourages collaboration.
Students retain very little of the information they receive when a teacher lectures from a textbook. When there are interactive lessons on a chalkboard or whiteboard, kids can remember about 20% of what they were taught. If a teacher encourages a small group discussion, that percentage can quadruple.
On the other hand, technology may distract some students and thats why I cannot tell for sure whether the technology is useful or not in the learning process.
To sum up, the use of technology in language teaching and leaning is an essential tool that every educational institution should consider, since it is inevitable and since technology is growing with us.
Thank you for your precious time!
